Staying inside the park puts you directly into the national-park rhythm and works particularly well for self-drive travellers. Accommodation ranges from simpler camp options upward, and the experience is about access to Kruger rather than conventional hotel luxury.

Accommodation outside the park can offer more choice in style and price while keeping day access practical. The exact gate matters: a property described as ‘near Kruger’ is not automatically convenient for the area you intend to explore.
