Zululand: Hluhluwe-iMfolozi and the reserves of northern KwaZulu-Natal.

Zululand is the north of KwaZulu-Natal, between eSwatini and the coast. It holds Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park, Africa’s oldest game reserve and the home of white rhino conservation, as well as private reserves such as Manyoni. You can travel through it on one of our small-group tours, or stay at a safari lodge.

Hluhluwe-iMfolozi and the private reserves

Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park has lodges inside it, and there are hotels in and around Hluhluwe town. Private reserves nearby, such as Manyoni, have their own lodges.

Game drives in Hluhluwe-iMfolozi can be a day activity from a nearby hotel, or part of a stay at a lodge inside the park.

SMALL-GROUP TOURS

Zululand on a scheduled tour

Both tours spend a night in Zululand after eSwatini, with an optional afternoon open-vehicle safari in Hluhluwe-iMfolozi, then drive to the coast.

STAY OVERNIGHT

Safari lodges in Zululand

For more than one night, a lodge inside a reserve gives you game drives from the door.

LODGES

Getting there

Durban’s King Shaka International Airport is the nearest international airport for Zululand lodges. Our small-group tours arrive by road from eSwatini and finish at Umhlanga or the Durban area. For a lodge stay we can arrange a private road transfer.
