THE EXPERIENCE

Cradle of Humankind Day Tour

This is the Cradle of Humankind day for travellers who want to see the fossils themselves. After a Johannesburg pickup, a professional English-speaking guide takes you to the Maropeng Visitor Centre, which explains human evolution, and then to the Malapa Museum, where real hominin fossils are on show.

Entry fees to both and return transfers to or from your hotel or the airport are included, and the day takes about six hours. If you would rather go underground, the Maropeng & Sterkfontein Caves tour visits the caves instead of Malapa.
