Day 1 & 2: NamibRand Nature Reserve (2 nights)

Arrive at the Tok Tokkie Trails base by 2pm. After packing your essentials (your luggage will be transported to your camp), fill your water bottle and lace up your hiking boots. Your journey begins with a visit to the Namibia Environmental Education Trust (NaDEET) to learn about the reserve’s commitment to environmental responsibility. Then, embark on a short scenic drive to the trail’s starting point. Explore the rolling dunes, the desert’s small wonders, and the enigmatic fairy circles during an easy 1 to 2-hour walk through open plains and smaller dunes. Reach your camp for the night, situated in the heart of nowhere. Enjoy a sundowner as the sun sets on the horizon, followed by dinner under the mesmerizing dark skies—an unforgettable stargazing experience.

Day 2:

Wake up to a warm cup of tea or coffee as the sun rises. Start your day with a light breakfast and set out before the heat of the day. Traverse endless plains and ochre sand dunes that will leave you breathless. Discover the wonders of life in the world’s oldest desert during a 4 to 4.5-hour morning hike, which includes crossing a mountain saddle before descending into a dry riverbed. Take a break in a shaded spot for lunch and a midday siesta to escape the heat. In the cooler afternoon, continue your journey with a 2 to 2.5-hour walk over the dunes to your camp for the night. Enjoy a spectacular sunset view with a sundowner drink and dinner beneath the starlit desert skies.
